- Michael McDowell has competed at Chicagoland Speedway seven times during his NASCAR career.  Among his starts in the Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series, his career best qualifying effort is 15th and best finish is 25th. 

- McDowell won the ARCA race at Chicagoland in 2007 – one of four wins that season.

- McDowell has a strong family connection to the Chicago area as his father was born in the city and his grandfather lives in the area.

- Chicagoland is on McDowell’s favorites list, as its one of the first mile and a half tracks that McDowell got to experience in a stock car.
