Apr 17, 2015
Just a week after returning to the home track of Leavine Family Racing, Thrivent Financial will have a “homecoming” of their own this weekend at the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, as the not-for-profit financial services organization will return to the site of its first event as a primary sponsor in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. That race, which ended with a driver and team-best 18th place finish, kicked-off a spree of great races and momentum for the LFR team late last year.
Thrivent Financial, a not-for-profit financial services organization that helps Christians be wise with money and live generously, is a sponsor of the No. 95 car for 10 primary races and 10 associate races this season. Fans can learn more at www.thrivent.com.
Leavine Family Racing has raced at the half-mile short track five times, while driver Michael McDowell has some nine starts to his credit on the high-banked circuit. The team and driver secured a track best start (24th) and finish (18th) last fall with Thrivent Financial.
The number 95 has a hefty history in the Sprint Cup Series at Bristol Motor Speedway, having been wheeled around the circuit 23 times in the hands of legendary drivers like Davey Allison, Sterling Marlin, and Darrell Waltrip. While the 95 has a best finish of 8th by Sterling Marlin in 1984, the number has only led 3 laps at BMS, two of which were by Leavine Family Racing in 2011.
Ford Performance boasts an incredible history at the famed half-mile track, as the manufacturer has an astounding 35 victories at BMS, including both NASCAR Sprint Cup races at the track in 2014, with Joey Logano and Carl Edwards taking victory for the Blue Oval.

The next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event for Leavine Family Racing will be the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.  The team has a ninth place finish and a sixth place start to their name at the 2.66-mile superspeedway in only three starts as an organization.
